Tattoo Aftercare

Regular Care

  • Remove the wrap after 4-6 hours and immediately clean your tattoo with Gold Dial anti-bacterial soap.

  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel and let it air dry for a couple minutes.

  • Apply a small amount of ointment and rub it in like lotion.

  • Wash your tattoo twice a day or as needed if it gets sweaty or dirty.

  • Apply the ointment after washing your tattoo, and when the tattoo starts to dry out.

  • The ointment should be used at least three times a day for the first three days. After three days, continue to clean your tattoo, but use Lubriderm lotion instead of ointment.

What to Know

What to Know

  • Do NOT apply ANYTHING to your tattoo unless approved by your artist. (This includes other oils, lotions, and ointments)

  • No swimming or soaking your tattoo for at least two weeks.

  • Don’t scratch or pick any part of the tattoo.

  • Avoid direct sunlight during the healing process.

  • Avoid exercises or activities that stretch the tattooed area, or cause it to become sweaty for at least 7 days, preferrably until healed.

  • Don’t let your tattoo dry out, but you also don’t want to suffocate it with too much ointment/lotion. Find the right balance.

Saniderm Wrap

  • Remove the Saniderm wrap after 24 hours. Use a small amount of water under the edge of the wrap and SLOWLY peel it off.

  • Immediately wash your tattoo with Gold Dial anti-bacterial soap and pat it dry with a clean paper towel. Let it air dry for a couple minutes and apply the new wrap the same way the artist applied the first one.

  • Leave the wrap on for 5-6 days, then remove and wash it with Gold Dial soap. Pat dry and apply Lubriderm lotion three times a day, or as needed for another 7 days.

  • If there is a large amount of plasma/ink under the second wrap, remove it early, clean the tattoo, and follow the regular care instructions.

What to Expect

  • Redness, swelling, soreness, burning sensation, bruising, oozing blood plasma/ink, sore muscles, scabbing or flaky/itchy skin.

  • Your new tattoo might look dull or shiny during different parts of the healing process. It can also feel raised on certain parts. This is normal! Please give your body time to fully heal your tattoo.

  • If you have any questions or concerns with how your tattoo is healing, please contact your artist BEFORE searching the internet or asking a friend. Everyone heals differently! If it’s an emergency, contact your dermatologist immediately.
